The possibility of imminent physical danger is present in all public safety interactions and situations. Most attacks are not life threatening, however, the risks of serious injury and loss of work are real and present.

When a situation is not under direct law enforcement supervision this risk becomes even more prominent. Public safety professionals require effective and workable skills to identify, avoid, and if necessary defend themselves from assault without exposing themselves or their agency to unnecessary liability.

Students will learn how to assess potential dangers of assault, minimize potential risks and dangers, identify possible escape routes, and if necessary and practical, defend yourself. Avoiding, preventing, or safely and legally defending yourself requires realistic training that works. Students will also be instructed on statutes, case law, and generally accepted policies regarding when and if force must be used.

This curriculum is designed to help keep personnel safe whether in a vehicle, a darkened alley, if separated from your partner, or in a group.

A great basic primer on the basics of the use of force, this course covers safety, personal security, awareness, assault recognition, home security, travel security, legal limitations on the use of force, the psychology and physiology of fright and its effects on performance, conflict avoidance, Law Enforcement encounters, and much more. This course does NOT involve any physical skills training.

This course includes our Basic Personal Protection, as well as a 4 hour primer on weaponless self-defense & hand to hand skills, providing a solid grounding on the basics of self-defense giving the student a basic grounding in awareness, avoidance, as well as the legal and physical perspectives.
